Thanks for Stopping By

Hi and welcome. I’m Ali Rosen - cookbook author, tv host, writer and romcom author. I know those pursuits don’t all quite seem to go together, but I’m getting comfortable with the concept that creators create in all different kinds of ways, and women contain multitudes, so (apparently) these are my multitudes.

I’m currently mostly known for my work in food, as someone who has predominantly been obsessed with the intersection between cooking that is both easy and impressive looking.  I got my start in food very young, cooking beside my grandmother and shadowing along at restaurants in Charleston, SC, where I grew up. I'm lucky to have been influenced by so many places - the Southern food I grew up with; the New England cuisine of my mom's family; stints living in Scotland, Paris and Mumbai; and now my adopted home of NYC. And though I've never lived there, if you follow along my recipes or travels you'll also get a sense that I have a slight obsession with Italy.

Now in New York, I've carved out a pretty fun little job for myself. My show on NYC Life called Potluck is in its 15th (!) season. It has allowed me to interview chefs, restaurateurs, farmers and makers across the country and the world. I hope you’ll check out my cookbooks, Modern Freezer Meals and Bring It!, and the newest, 15 Minute Meals. I’m biased but I think all three books are great guides making your life easier. In addition to my books, you can also sometimes catch me cooking in other places like The Today Show, People Magazine or Food Network Kitchen.

My newest writing venture is my romcoms. Recipe for Second Chances was an instant #1 bestselling romance onAmazon and is novel about a food writer who arrives at a friend's Italian-Indian wedding bonanza of a weekend in Umbria only to be faced with the ex from a decade ago she'd once been too stubborn to believe in; It's a sun-soaked Italian romp that also explores how our past is never truly that far behind us. Alternate Endings is a smart, sexy, heartfelt romance about a single mother juggling homelife and career who finds unexpected complications while in Ireland for work.

I'm very proud to have been honored with nominations for a James Beard Award, two Emmys and two IACP Awards; and I was named a Forbes 30 Under 30 (although at this point it’s almost a decade past when I could claim to be under 30!). Thrillist once said I had one of the Coolest Jobs in Food and I tend to agree with that. I feel pretty lucky to get to talk about food and write all day.

Outside of work, I’m also mom to three kooky kids and rescue pup, and wife to a guy I fell in love with 20 years ago. Our house is a glorious, joyous mess to say the least. If you’re looking for me I’m usually either at the Union Square Greenmarket or curled up in a chair reading a romcom. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out at my contact form. Or if you want occasional updates you can sign up for my newsletter. Either way, I appreciate you finding your way to my little corner of the interwebs.
